The Devonian Guesthouse - How the Safe, Clean, Legal COVID-19 Accreditation has helped their business

In June 2021 The Devonian Guesthouse became on of the latest businesses to gain the Safe, Clean, Legal COVID-19 accreditation from Quality in Tourism. The owner, Gillian, shares her thoughts and experience on gaining the award:

Initial impression of the scheme:

“A clear, well thought out and practical guide to navigate the COVID world we are now having to work and live with.

It gave both myself and the team the confidence moving forward that we were applying the  best COVID-19 cleaning protocols to mitigate are risk, keeping staff and guests as safe as possible.”

Experience of the process and what was useful:

“From the outset the Quality in Tourism team, in particular Sarah helped me throughout, no matter how many queries and questions I had we worked through the logistics together to find the best working solution.  The risk assessment in particular I found very useful in making myself and the team think outside the box to achieve the level of safety we were looking for, but also still run the business in an efficient manner.

We have actually improved and introduced better working practices on the back of the accreditation so a win win!”

What would I say to anyone else considering gaining the accreditation?

“It really is worth going through the process, for me I now feel we are doing everything we can to keep ourselves and our customers safe. It has given me the tools to put in place an enhanced COVID-19 cleaning routine.

It also gives customers the confidence and peace of mind to stay with us knowing we have gone through this process and achieved the accreditation.”
