Cummal Beg Apartment

About

Cummal Beg is a self-catering holiday apartment located in Baldrine, halfway between Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man and Laxey. Surrounding the apartment is an open expanse of farmland, perfect to escape the hustle and bustle!

Sleeping 4 in 2 bedrooms, Cummal Beg is perfect for a small family visit to the island.

Groudle Glen is just a few minutes drive down the road, This lovely glen could well make as strong a case for the Island’s most beautiful glen, the playful mix of bountiful greenery, the olde-time Railway station allied to hidden gems such as its water wheel’ give it a bustling mix of beauty, intrigue and history. Take a walk through a mini-nature trail through tree-lined pathways, a spectacular wheel-headed cross and finishing up through the farmlands of Baldrine.

A few minutes further north is the old mining village of Laxey, steeped in history. Visit The Laxey Wheel or 'Lady Isabella' as she is affectionately known, the largest working waterwheel in the world. Climb atop of the wheel to experience panoramic views across Glen Mooar Valley, not for those who are afraid of heights! On the same site is the mine where you can learn more about the village's history. Laxey beach is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, watch the kayakers, paddleboarders and sea swimmers take to the water in the summer months, and in the winter simply enjoy watching the waves roll in!

South of Cummal Beg is the island's capital, Douglas, with a range of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

Public transport won't be an issue if staying at Cummal Beg either! At the end of the lane is the Manx Electric Railway stop, hop on either back into Douglas or onto Laxey or Ramsey! A bus stop is nearby too.

Cummal Beg is managed by local self-catering holiday cottage company Island Escapes. To book Cummal Beg please visit their website.

Map & Directions

Road Directions

On leaving the ferry, travel along the length of the promenade and keep to the coast road for a couple of miles.  The sea will be on your right and tramlines on your left.  The road does wind its way inwards after a mile or so - continue until you reach a halt sign. Turn right (you are now on the main Douglas to Laxey/Ramsey road) and cross over the tramlines and after a short distance, you will see a little lane on your left with a garden shed at the start of the lane which sells Gellings Free Range Eggs.  The apartment is up the lane on the right.
