About

Ballaterson Cottages are set in a beautiful country location, just outside the village of Ballaugh with views across the fields and mountains. Easy access to all main shopping facilities, and local transport.

Ballaugh village has a grocery store, off licence and post office. There is the local pub/restaurant "The Raven" providing food all day, and Sunday lunches. Bookings advisable.

Catering

  • Food shop - There is a local Spar grocery store in the village, and also has off-licene and post office
  • Restaurant - The raven Pub in the village is also a restaurant and booking is advisable

Children & Infants

  • Accept children (Minimum age) - these cottages 1/2 although only one bedroomed, its possible for a travel cot to be provided or a single fold up bed. at extra cost. Please check with the owners.
  • Childrens Play Area - the garden is safe for any children playing.
  • Cot - A travel cot can be provided at £15.00 for a 7 night say
  • Facilities for children - There are many facilities for childre on the island, for all sports, and for all ages

Leisure Facilities

  • Access to golf course - There are various golf courses throughout the island. Ramsey Golf Club is the nearest. There are golf course at Derbyhaven in the South and in Douglas.
  • Arrangements for riding/pony trekking - There are pony trecking facilities at Cronk Y Voddy, just outside Kirk Michael.
  • Cycle hire - Cycle hire can be booked from the Cycle Shop in Ramsey and they will deliver the bikes to the cottage, if required. Prices I believe are around £8/£10 per day, for a week it would be less.
  • Fishing - There are many areas to fish on the island, deep sea fishing or river fishing. A licence is required from the Post Office
  • Gym - There are various gyms doted around the island, Ramsey and Douglas.
  • Health/Fitness/ Beauty Facilities - These can be found in Ramsey (nearest), or in Douglas.
  • Indoor pool - The nearest indoor pool is Ramsey Leisure Centre. there is also an indoor pool in Peel The Western centre. Douglad has the leisure complex with an indoor pool
  • Other sporting facilities - Outdoor facilities, like bike hire, pony trecking, cannoying, and diving are all available on the island.

  • Haunted - Castle Rushen is known to be haunted. Bookings can be made to visit the Castle with a guide, and the surrounding areas. Milntown House in ramsey has some amazing history attached to it
  • In countryside - There are beautiful walks around the Ballaugh area. including the Ballaugh Curraghs where you may spot wild wallabies. There are an abundance of glens to visit on the island.

Road Directions

Travelling to the cottages from the Sea terminal

Exit sea terminal, keep left straight over the mini roundabout and the next one. Follow the A1 towards Peel through Union Mills/ Crosby, Greeba until you reach the Ballacraine Crossroads (identified by a large pink house on the corner of the right turn). Turn right for the North and Ramsey A3.stay on this road passing through Kirk Michael. On reaching the outskirts of Ballaugh village, turn immediate left after the bridge. Go to the end of this road passed the church on the right, and take the first right turn Ballaterson Road leading to Ballaterson fields, don't turn off this road. Go to the end where there is a cross road and go straight over. The property is the first on the right turn after the bend. Please park in allocated space either 1/2/3 depending on cottage booked.

Travelling from the Airport:

Once you exit the terminal turn right at the first roundabout, go straight on and through the next roundabout, passing the Whitestone Pub on your left, follow through Ballasalla on the A3 to St Johns. Directions from here are the same as above once Ballacraine crossroads have been reached.

 

Public Transport Directions

Ballaterson cottages are within 15 mins walk to the local village, bus services are available in either North/South direction if required.

Links for the steam train, electric railway are available from Ramsey, Laxey and Douglas, and stop at all major tourist drop off points.

The bus service is a request stop, so visitors can be dropped off where suitable.

Bikes can be hired from Ramsey and can be delivered if required.
