About

Fort Island, east of Derbyhaven Bay, is one of the best scenic viewpoints in the Isle of Man. With views casting over Castletown and Port Erin, stargazers are guaranteed sensational views over the horizon from North East to South West. The area is a great spot to admire the stars above, with the rural site offering minimal light pollution, apart from the West where a vast array of lights can be seen from the airport.

Fort Island is one of 26 registered Dark Sky Discovery Sites on the Isle of Man. With the help of Interpretation Boards on site, stargazers can fully enjoy the stunning views on offer in the Manx skies.

Advice and Safety:

The stargazing site has an unmade but flat surface, providing no difficulty issues for telescopes.
