West Coast Wander

About

The picture perfect route will take you from the harbour at Peel and wind through breath taking coastal and country vistas finishing at The Sound.

After exploring Peel or taking a trip to the Leece Museum, where there is a permanent exhibition of TT & MGP winning racing machines, vintage, and off-road bikes, take the south route out of the sunset city which leads towards Glen Maye. Here you can find a spectacular bridged gorge and waterfall which dominate this Glen.

Continue along the coastal road to Dalby, with far reaching views of Niarbyl and The Sound. Take a right to visit the secluded beauty spot of Niarbyl, a place of great geological importance. Discover the peaceful bay with its rolling hills, thatched cottages and dramatic coastal paths.

Depart Niarbyl, take a right where you will start your climb to the top of the Sloc known as the Round Table. Along the way there are three plantations to be explored including Slieau Mooar, Glen Rushen and Cringle. At the top, pull over to take in the spectacular views of the south of the Island.

Complete the stretch down the Sloc and feel like you are soaring towards the ocean's edge. Arriving at the roundabout you will see Rushen Parish on your right hand side. Continue the road around, cross over the railway lines and take the right onto Howe Road which will descend to the Island's most southern tip with panoramic sea views. Arrive at the Sound and Calf of Man, one of our natural wonders, abundant in wildlife and considered one of the most scenic places in the British Isles.
