About
Sarah's Cottage is a beautiful recently renovated modern yet traditional terraced cottage in the heart of Castletown, the Isle of Man's ancient capital with its narrow streets and fishing cottages. This is a deceptively spacious house featuring a very ample living area and large kitchen-diner. The cottage has been finished to a high standard with two double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite and a third single bedroom. Sarah's Cottage accomadates 5 people.
To the rear of the house is a lovely quiet, private garden which makes for a great suntrap in the summer.
Located a stones throw from the Isle of Man airport the cottage is also close to the main bus route and the railway station is only 5 minutes walk away, making this the perfect base for those who are travelling without a car, but also appealing to the business traveller. Castletown is a stunning, friendly coastal historic town now known on the island for a fantastic range of places to eat and drink, all just a few minutes walk from the doorstep of Sarah's Cottage.
The history of the town and island are illustrated in four Manx National Heritage sites in the centre of Castletown: Castle Rushen (at the centre of the town) was originally built in 1265 for a Norse king, then fortified and added to by successive rulers between the 13th and 16th centuries; The Nautical Museum (in the secret passage-filled home of inventor, politician, banker and probable smuggler George Quayle); the Old Grammar School (originally a church from AD 1200) and the Old House of Keys.
The Southern 100 motorcycle races take place in July each year and start of the course start/finish is just a minutes walk from Sarah's Cottage. Castletown Beach, Scarlett Nature Reserve,Tennis Courts, Bowls, Pulsom Park and the Silverburn River are minutes walk away. Cafes, hairdressers, shops, gym and weekly farmers markets can be found in the square.
