Kidding Chaos

About

Visit High Tilt Goat Farm at Kirk Michael and immerse yourself in all things goat! There are over 100 goats on the Farm, including Anglo Nubian dairy goats, SA Boer meat goats, Angora goats for Mohair, and pygmy goats, just for fun!

Private Farm Tours are available all year round. A tour can include having a go at hand milking, bottle feeding goat kids, kid cuddles, goat grooming, a farm walk to check and feed some of the outside free range goats, walking the dairy herd out to pasture in the morning, or walking them back to the barn in the late afternoon. A Tour finishes with a cheese tasting. There is always lots of chat about the goats and the way we run the farm and the herd. All the goats are known individually and receive exceptional standards of care. A tour takes a good two to three hours. We charge £200 for up to 10 people, £20 per person if more than 10 visitors.

Small tour of one hour is also available at £100 for up to 10 people - £10 per person which includes walking the diary herd and bottle feeding if time of year.

During kidding seasons when the goat mums give birth and look after their young kids, we run Kidding Chaos. This takes place in our Big Barn and is a delightful experience when visitors can meet the new goat mums and cuddle their babies, the goat kids. There is usually bottle feeding to be done by visitors. Some people are lucky enough to actually see kids being born. A Kidding Chaos session is at least an hour’s duration and the charge is £7 per person and group size is limited to 20 people.

The Farm also holds Open Days and Open Weekends. The largest event is over three days at the end of August when the Farm opens up over the August Bank Holiday weekend in aid of Hospice Isle of Man.

The Farm hosts visits by WI groups, Retirement Associations, Clubs and Societies, Schools, Businesses, Scout Groups, etc, and there are also private sessions for Special Needs. We also can host children's parties.

High Tilt is also the home of Goat Yoga. It’s an hour of gentle yoga taught by one of the Island’s leading yoga teachers in the company of tame goat kids who are free to interact with the participants in whatever way they like….. some like to jump, some like to lie on yoga mats, all love fuss, and the session ends with plenty of chill out time with the goat kids.

High Tilt Farm Shop is currently situated up the farm drive right next to the farm dairy and the main goat barn. There are usually three different cheeses: soft spreadable Chevre, Feta, and a bloomy white rind Crottin (mini goats brie), halloumi and hard raw milk cheeses are sometimes available; 5 different goats yogurts, all live, and all so thick that you can stand your spoon up in them, plus goats milk Kefir, and liquid milk. Goat meat is on sale from around September through to Christmas.
