Lovely and Convenient

West View is a beautiful old property that is well-equipped for any length stay. There are two floors, and stairs (as mentioned in the property description) that could be a challenge for those with mobility issues. We were able to navigate them without problems. The property is set back in a green area that is beautiful and quiet. It is also located right across the street from bus stops that can connect you almost anywhere on the Isle of Man, which was very convenient for our stay as we didn't hire a car. An excellent experience all around!

A WEEK IN THE ISLE OF MAN.

West View was lovely. Clean and tidy. Location could not be better for exploring the island from Douglas. It is at the top of a road leading out of Douglas and has private parking accessed through the automatic gates at the entrance. Good bus service in and out of Douglas with buses stopping just across the road coming up, and 50 yards up the road on your side going down. Lovely park and TT start grandstand (accessible to walk up and sit down) 5 minutes walk away if you are interested. Bed enormous, large bathroom and shower with plenty of room for me at 6' 4"! Table and chairs in a private garden. Highly recommended.

Douglas in the rain

I was born in the Isle of Man so it was fun to be in upper Douglas-not far from my childhood house and school. We were unlucky with the weather. It was raining most of the time. We became very good at catching the bus up or down when it was too wet to walk. It is a great location-so easy to get to the shops and the entertainment at the Gaiety and the Villa etc.We liked the fact that our car was very safe behind the gates and in fact we used it less than usual as it was so easy to get into town and take a bus or a train. The house is well set up for visitors, well decorated and everything was very clean when we arrived. I do suggest that it would be good to have something to enable visitors to hang up coats in the entrance . It was difficult to get things dry when we came in from wet outings. The bathroom also needs some updating . However, these comments are minor ones. .We had a lovely time at West View, despite the weather .

Great location

This property is in a great location, right in the heart of Douglas but very quiet with easy parking. We like walking so enjoyed the trip down to the prom or along Woodbourne Road to the local shops. We appreciated the quiet location of West View, set in grounds with beautiful trees and easy parking on the drive. The house is comfortable from the beds to the settee in the lounge and most of the facilities are straightforward to use such as the dishwasher and oven.

Green location on edge of Douglas

Photos provide an accurate impression of this Manor House annexe in a green oasis. Well positioned for travelling in all directions - ideal for our first visit to Isle of Man. We walked into Douglas twice (about half an hour) and to the Electric Railway (35 mins) - seafront about 15 mins. Park and TT grandstand 5mins. Enormous comfortable bed. Small lounge and dining/kitchen worked fine for a couple. Small Convenience store 5 mins walk - Shoprite supermarket 5 mins by car. Recommendation based on provisos of location (ideal for TT and travelling by car) and suitability of type of property which is more antique/80s in decor than contemporary - some attention and updating to instruction file recommended and fed back separately.

A beautiful , quiet appartment

West View is a flat on the side of a huge mansion surrounded by garden and trees. It is extremely quiet and peaceful. The beds were so comfortable and very clean. The lounge was fabulous with a good tv and comfy chairs. Bathroom and kitchen were fully equipped. And as always Island Escapes leave you milk, butter and cheese in the fridge plus washing up liquid and loo rolls. The location is a 15-20 min walk down a long hill to the promenade. Its quite hard coming back! But there is plenty of room for parking your car and you are very near the TT grandstand if that is your thing. We went all over the island during our stay and it was a pleasure to come back to West View every evening. Thanks to Island Escapes for another great holiday.

A quiet oasis in Douglas

The property was nicely prepared and presented, although a few pre-season adjustments were still needed as the owner was unaware of our booking. Well equipped kitchen and comfy sitting room, with furnishings in keeping with the period style of the property. Bathroom taps needed some attention. Beautiful and secluded location.

Lovely location

We really enjoyed our time at West View and would definitely book it again. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of Douglas but, because of the lovely grounds, feeling as if it was in the middle of the country. We even had a pheasant visiting regularly.

Autumn break at West view.

West View was very easy to find and in a lovely quiet location. Also perfectly situated for travelling around the Island. Main bedroom was marvellous. We did need to contact Island Escapes for help setting up the TV and found this difficult each evening. The armchair in the lounge looks grubby without the cushions. A non stick frying pan would be very useful. Apart from these minor things we had a great holiday and I would recommend West View

Excellent location

This cottage is situated with several others in a large garden quite close to Douglas town centre. The Sea Termonal is about a 25-30 minutes walk away. There are also quite frequent buses. Despite being fairly central, the cottage is very quiet. It is very spacious with a large double bedroom with an armchair and a view over the garden for stay at home days. The only downside for us was the staircase which has a sharp turn half way up.

An oasis of calm close to the relative bustle of Douglas

This is a beautifully presented period property, with high ceilings and many period features, a separate wing of a Victorian mansion. It had only recently been decorated throughout. The peaceful view from the very large double bedroom is across a lawn bounded by trees, yet the property is only a few minutes by car from the seafront or around a 25 minutes walk, though it's quite a steep climb coming back. The single bedroom (which we didn't use) is quite small but does benefit from a separate private dressing area. The sitting room was comfortable and relaxing, the kitchen/diner adequately equipped for the size of the property. The property is on a couple of bus routes and we made some use of public transport as an alternative to driving. We found the Go Explore travel cards were good value for money, especially if you plan to use the island's heritage transport system. Whilst let through an agency, we happened to meet the owner, who was charming and helpful. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at West View and it will definitely be our first choice of accommodation the next time we holiday on the wonderful Isle of Mann.

A super retreat

West View was an absolutely idea spot for our stay on the Isle of Man. The property is lovely and set in superb, secluded gardens whilst being just a few minutes walk from many activities. An excellent base for exploring the island. The owner was extremely helpful. We did have some difficulty finding it in the dark when we first arrived (we don't have sat-nav or such like). Some idea of distance from the traffic lights would have helped and also some mention of the gates may have aided our search especially when three people we asked had no idea where it was! Altogether though we loved it and would certainly highly recommend it

Two weeks self-isolation stay at West View.

My son and I stayed at West View following a hospital appointment in the UK and had to self-isolate on return to IOM. It was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay. It was comfortable and well equipped. We arrived in the evening and it took me a while to locate the instruction folder, which contained the wifi password. The wifi did cut out a couple of times, but was mostly reliable. I found instructions for the washer-drier, but none for the oven , the dishwasher, or the heating. I did find that it was cold in the middle of the day and would have liked to boost the heating at times. Overall we enjoyed our stay at West View and for us it worked well for our self-isolation period.
