DISCOVERING, EXPLORING AND ENJOYING OUR ISLAND FAITH HERITAGE

PILGRIMAGE ISLE OF MAN

What is a pilgrimage? It is a time set aside to make a journey of reflection, discovery, challenge or devotion; for many, it is a journey of mind, body and soul. It can be time spent with friends – or a space for quiet; a chance to explore the landscape around you or a world within; a chance to step aside from the busyness of life… and let your soul catch up…

PILGRIMAGE ISLE OF MAN is  a group of friends, each  representing  other local heritage, tourism and faith groups, who all share a  passion to see the visual and historical treasures of the Isle of Man discovered, explored – and enjoyed!

IT’S HERE !!  THE WAIT IS OVER !!
Whether you’re a walker, a reader, an admirer of beautiful photos or simply a lover of all things Manx, then you’ll find something to enjoy and interest you in our latest publication.

THE TRISKELION WAY is a 36-mile trail – in 7 sections – extending from Rushen Abbey in the south to Maughold in the north, via Peel. It offers the pilgrim varied walking conditions, glorious countryside and coastal views and historically significant places – for example the spectacular Spooyt Vane waterfall, and 9th century Keeill Pheric (Patrick’s chapel)
The Raad Ny Foillan Pilgrimage trail – in 12 sections – largely follows the Way of the Gull, the Island’s coastal path which celebrated 30 years in 2016, and includes the remains of Celtic-Norse keeills (chapels) and carved crosses found on or near the Island’s cliffs, glens and beaches. Completing the whole circuit represents a 5 day challenge of over 100 miles for experienced walkers, but its’ 12 sections allow individual stages to be explored.
Breathtaking views and historically significant places, with their ruins and remains telling the story of those who have gone before, are there for everyone to discover. Crossroads trails guide road users to key faith heritage sites accessible by car, bike or public transport.
