  • Located just one minute away from the town centre of Ramsey, the Isle of Man’s second largest town, Ramsey Beach is a sandy expanse and is reputedly one of the sunniest spots on the island.

The beach is bordered on one side by an impressive, victorian era 2160 foot (600m) pier. The Queen’s Pier was closed to the public in 1991, however extensive restoration efforts are in place to return the pier to its former glory. On the other side of the beach are two stone piers, which mark the spot where the island’s largest river, the Sulby, meets the sea.

Nearby Ramsey harbour is still a fully working harbour, and visitors to the beach and town can enjoy watching the ships come in and out. Behind the beach, a popular promenade runs the length of the beach and takes walkers into the centre of town. Within the town of Ramsey is a busy shopping street as well as several popular pubs and restaurants.

A lovely way to while away stresses and enjoy the serenity of the beach. Love the walks and seeing people having fun swimming, dogs enjoying playing, boats sailing past, the little train on the pier, and the lovely little town and places to sit and have an ice cream or a coffee. Love Ramsey

    We love Ramsey Beach!

Lovely beach. Great to swim at high tide and perfect to walk along at low. One of our favourite places.

To the South side of the stone pier are what we called as children the ‘Bullrocks’, never sure why but maybe because they bulwarked the main stones. When I was a kid the Salvation Army used to hold sing-songs (Sunshine Corner) and there were black-and-white minstrels (now VERY politically suspect). All my family served the lifeboat; Grandad ‘Red’ Harry was Cox… a beautiful beach where we used to build ‘gyppies’ but I won’t explain these… they were sort of castles to live in. Happy Days.
