Port Grenaugh Beach

Port Grenaugh Beach - Isle of Man

The small beach at Port Grenaugh lies in a sheltered cove, on the south east coast of the Isle of Man between Port Soderick and Santon Head.  The beach here is a mixture of sand, shingle and rocks, and the cove is flanked on either side by cliffs backed with grassland, shrubs and gentle rolling hills. At low tide there are a number of rockpools exposed.

Access to the beach is down a narrow, single-track road and there is only parking for a small number of cars.  Planning permission has been given for a small number of holiday cottages and a restaurant.

A short walk from the beach, Crank ny Merriu, a grassy promontory towering above the sea has a trench and small hill, which is all that is left of a Celtic Iron Age defensive fort.
