In Christmas

With the Christmas holidays shortly upon us, are you looking for activity and event inspiration over the festive period? If so, we've put together an itinerary of some of the great festive activities taking place this December!

1. Summerhill Glen Christmas Illuminations - Up to 6th Jan 2021

Enjoy this year’s illumination celebrations in Summerhill Glen. Based in the Island’s capital, Douglas, the Glen is easy to reach and can be enjoyed both day and night. For the best experience, we’d recommend visiting at night-time when the festive decorations make the Glen dazzle throughout the Christmas period, transforming it into its very own grotto for you to explore with your family and friends.

2. Little Festive Shedanigans - 23rd December 2020

This yuletide, meet Mr Christmas himself at the Little Shed at the Glen's ‘Little Festive Shedanigans’ where you can hop aboard the Dhoon Express for a magical journey to find Santa and his friends this Christmas. With the Manx Electric Railway departing between 2pm-6pm from both Ramsey and Laxey, arrive at the Little Shed and be greeted by Santa's reindeers, toffee apples, hot drinks, toasted marshmellows and Santa himself!

3. The Isle of Man Walking Festival - 18th Dec - 4th Jan 2021

Welcome to the Island’s very first Festive Walking Festival! Whether you want a peaceful stroll, a challenging hike, a family outing or more in-depth sightseeing and adventure, this festival is sure to add something special to your Christmas holidays, with walks to suit all ages and interests - including your four legged friends!

4. Groudle Glen Santa Trains - 19th, 20th & 26th Dec 2020

It comes round quicker every year… and once again Santa has booked his visits to Groudle Glen Railway for the two weekends prior to Christmas! Why not blow away the cobwebs after the big day and hop on board the Railway's popular Mince Pie Trains on Boxing Day?

5. This is Christmas Exhibition - 28th Nov - 10th Jan 2021

A free exhibition, taking place at the Manx Museum, looking back through the photographs taken by Bill Peters and his team at Manx Press Pictures, exploring Island life during the festive season from the 1950s through to the 1970s.

6. Sleeping Beauty Pantomime - 19th - 30th Dec 2020

Panto classic Sleeping Beauty tells the story of Princess Beauty being cursed by the Evil Carabosse to die on her 21st Birthday. Thanks to Beauty’s fairy, she only falls into a deep sleep that can be broken with a kiss from her true love. Will her handsome prince come to her rescue and save the day? Taking place at the Villa Gaiety, this promises to be a spectacular pantomime featuring a superb cast, brilliant scenery and costumes, amazing special effects and lots and lots of laughs!
