We’ve been making a list of the best spots on the Island to warm up with a mulled wine or raise a glass with friends this Christmas.

Dine with Santa at Milntown Estate

The gardens at Milntown are stunning no matter what time of year you visit, but they feel particularly magical during the winter. The café, which overlooks the walled garden and famous Winchester gates, serves light lunches and indulgent cakes – perfect for warming up after a chilly stroll around the estate. This year, the estate is hosting ‘Santa Teas’ where you can dine by the fire with the man himself. Other festivities include Santa’s Workshop and ‘A Christmas Past’; a day of Christmas carols, festive activities, with an opportunity to have a photograph taken into one the Estate’s fabulous vintage vehicles.

Get festive at Foraging Vintners

This small-but-perfectly formed winery, which uses local produce to make their own sparkling wines, is the perfect setting to gather with friends and celebrate the holidays in style. Wrap up warm and take a seat on their outside patio to enjoy some of the best views in the south of the Island, or snuggle up inside next to their wood burning stove. This Christmas the winery is hosting a jam packed event schedule, including Christmas Movie nights throughout December, a Christmas Party with local talent Biskee Brisht and a Christmas Eve Bonanza!

The Shed, an artisan beachside eatery with stunning views overlooking Laxey beach, which offers a wide range of freshly made local food and snacks, will be offering its festive menu throughout December, including their infamous ‘Pot O Pigs’ and Morgan’s festive pies. This yuletide, meet Mr Christmas himself at the Shed’s ‘Little Festive Shedanigans’ where you can hop aboard the Dhoon Express for a magical journey to find Santa and his friends this Christmas.

Cosy up with the perfect pint

Two of our favourite pubs for warming up on a frosty evening; The Prospect in Douglas features a cosy library area for gathering large groups together, and a feature fireplace. The Cat With No Tail, in Onchan, is also open on Christmas day and will be featuring a festive menu right the way through December.
