About Us

Situated on the former RAF Jurby in the sunny north of the Isle of Man, the privately funded Isle of Man Motor Museum was purpose designed and houses over 500 vehicles. Opened in May 2015, it has become a petrol head’s paradise with something for everyone to enjoy. 

Starting with the 1904 Gordon Bennett Trials, the Isle of Man occupies a unique place in both motoring and motorsports heritage. Every year, TT riders take on the fearsome 37.73 mile Mountain Course now averaging well over 130mph. Throughout the year, the Island’s fabulous driving roads and stunning scenery provide all enthusiast drivers and riders with an ideal destination to exercise their machines. 

Isle of Man TT Museum

The Isle of Man Motor Museum's TT Museum opened in time for the start of the 2018 TT Races. This exciting addition has seen the number of motorcycles on display increase from 200 to almost 400 helped by a wall of bikes!

Showcasing years of TT and motor sporting history including the collection of Bob McIntyre, the first rider to complete a lap at an average speed of more than 100mph.

Rider helmets, clothing, awards and memorabilia cover walls and cabinets of the museum, and a replica of an iconic marshal’s hut from the mountain section has also been created to pay tribute to the marshals that enable the event to go ahead. New for 2022 is the TT course map replicated in scale in steel tubing with 18 authentic TT signs and 10 mile markers on display at their positions around the course - a must see exhibit and a great photo opportunity for visitors. 

Motorcycles 

With almost 400 motorcycles on display, from the earliest motorised bicycles to modern day superbikes, including TT winners and Bonneville Record Holders, there is sure to be something for all bike fanatics. The Museum is also very proud of the Island's local heroes and are honoured to display their machines as well.  

Isle of Man Gems 

The Museum is very privileged to display vehicles owned by local enthusiasts that are usually hidden away from public view. From veteran cars to Land Rovers to 80s hot hatches, there’s something unique to pique everyone's interest. 

Living Museum 

Most of the exhibits are in operational condition and are exercised regularly as the patrons firmly believe in using them as they are meant to be used. The exhibits also show vehicles in all states of life, from immaculate original cars and concourse restorations to well used daily drivers and complete barn finds.

Cunningham Collection 

The core of the Museum’s collection is the Cunningham Collection. Assembled over the past 30 years by the Museum Founders, this is a unique gathering of both historically significant vehicles and cars with very personal family stories. 

Peel Engineering

New for 2022 is the Peel Engineering display - a dedicated room celebrating the achievements of the islands only car manufacturer with a genuine P50 and Trident the stars of the exhibit alongside P1000s, a Viking shell and running gear and the prototype for the Peel Monorail. Other exhibits include Peel motorcycle fairings, memorabilia and exploded Peel showing all of its component parts.

Steam

Discover how steam power has been used on the roads with cars from White and Gardner Serpollet on display and a Doble-Delage undergoing restoration in the workshop.

Commercials

The Museum features trucks, buses, fire engines, a traction engine, a hovercraft, a charabanc, hearses, flower cars, airport limousines, agricultural equipment and even a self-propelled gun! 

Plan Your Visit 

To help prepare you, it is recommended setting aside at least three hours to enjoy your visit to the Museum. However, a large number of visitors have been known to arrive at 10am, and don’t leave until the lights are turned out in the evening! 

The Museum is fully accessible for disabled visitors and children are very welcome with kid’s quizzes and Cosy Cabs for little ones. Free parking is on site and electric car charging is also available. The Guard House Cafe provides for all your refreshment needs. Non-commercial photography is welcome throughout the Museum (no tripods). 

Our visitors are encouraged to get close to the exhibits so there are very few barriers, though it is requested that you are respectful to help preserve the exhibits. The Museum cannot guarantee all vehicles will be on display when you visit, so please contact them in advance if you are interested in a specific exhibit and the Museum will do their best to accommodate you.
