Welcome to the Isle of Man

Peel

Peel Castle SunsetPeel is considered by many to be the most 'Manx' of all towns. On a clear day the town boasts views to Ireland's Mountains of Mourne and sunsets so spectacular they have earned Peel the nickname 'Sunset City'.

The town is perfect for exploring with its many tiny lanes, full of character, leading from the working harbour which for decades was one of the principal centres of the Manx fishing industry. To this day, fishing is still a major activity in the town.

Specialist and antique shops, a chocolate factory and a kipper curers all combine to make Peel a rare shopping experience.

Peel's landmark heritage centre is the House of Manannan, where visitors can discover more about the Isle of Man, thanks to exciting interactive presentations of the Island's dramatic past.

From mid May to late August, Peel is one of the best places in the world to see Basking Sharks from shore. These endangered animals, up to the size of a bus in length, often come to within metres of the shores and cliffs.
