Farm and Factory Tours
The perfect opportunity to go behind the scenes and see firsthand how the Island’s fantastic food and drink is produced – before it gets to the table!
Find out more about the Island’s farming community by taking a farm tour where you’ll be able to see cows being milked, collect eggs from the free range chickens and take a trailer ride through the countryside.
Or take a trip to the fishing hotspot of Peel where you can tour Moore’s Traditional Curers which is a working factory that has been curing Manx kippers for over 100 years. You’ll see the full kippering process which involves hanging the fish in large chimneys to be smoked.
For a sweet kick try The Original Manx Fudge Factory in Ballasalla which makes fudge, toffee and chocolates using as many local ingredients as possible. Learn about the manufacturing processes involved with making the confectionary and sample over 20 different flavours of fudge.
And if you need something to wash it all down with visit the one of our local breweries, Okells, Bushy's or the Hooded Ram Brewing Company. These award winning breweries have been producing ales for more than 100 years and supply many of the Island’s pubs. Find out more about the strict brewing laws which forbid the use of additives and enjoy an opportunity to try some of the speciality beers in the bar!
Hooded Ram Brewing Company is the newest and smallest brewery on the Island in the heart of Douglas only started brewing in September 2013 but has already had success with cask and bottle sales. Tours, parties and corporate events hosted and an Open Tasting Bar on the first Friday of each month. Factory tours are available by prior appointment. The factory is open between Monday and Friday from 8.30am to 5pm.

Okells Brewery is located just outside of Douglas. Brewery tours are available by prior appointment on Thursdays between 7.30pm and 10.30pm from September to April.
Moore’s Traditional Curers, who cure Manx kippers in Peel, run tours on Mondays and Saturdays from May and September at 3.30pm. Admission is free.
Farm tours are organised by the Manx National Farmers Union by prior appointment at many locations around the Island throughout the year. Smeale Farm in the North of the Island offers farm tours, picnics and Manx 'Plough to Plate' experiences.
