About

Nestled in along the Manx coastline lies Port Soderick, a small hamlet to the south of Douglas. Once famed for its pleasure grounds and beach, Port Soderick is a perfect Dark Sky Discovery spot for stargazers. The car park above the beach provides a great vantage point for watching the night sky, with horizon views to the North West and South.

Port Soderick Upper car park is one of 26 registered Dark Sky Discovery Sites on the Isle of Man. With the help of Interpretation Boards on site, stargazers can fully enjoy the stunning views on offer in the Manx skies.

Advice and Safety:

The Stargazing site is in a large car park with ample spaces. The perimeter is surrounded by bushes.

Road Directions

By Car: Travel south from Douglas on the Old Castletown Road. At Oakhill Cottage, just before the bridge, take a left turn onto the B52. After approximately 1.5 miles, the car park can be found on the left.

By Train: Take the steam railway and alight at Port Soderick station.
