Manx Welcome

How Do I Get Involved?

The Hospitality Forum is composed of industry members. The committee membership composes over 18 companies who are selected from a broad range of sectors. These include carriers, heritage, hotels, pubs, restaurants, retailing, self-catering and taxis. You can contact any member of the Hospitality Forum in the first instance if you would like to have a chat about the scheme.

How do Employees Register to Join the Scheme?

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is the administrative office. An employers pack will be sent to you which contains delegate application forms, course dates, course enrolment and employers feedback forms. Alternatively, you can download them from the bottom of this page. You will need to return delegate and enrolment forms to Manx Welcome Administration, St Andrews House, Finch Road, Douglas, Isle of Man IM1 2PX. Tel: - 686807 Fax: - 686860 Email:- manxwelcome@dtl.gov.im

Is There Any Cost Involved?

There is no financial cost apart from the employee being paid normally to attend. The scheme is financially supported by the Department of Tourism & Leisure and the Department of Trade and Industry with the assistance of the Isle of Man College and Manx National Heritage who provide some of the teaching staff.

What's in it For Me?

The Scheme is intended to provide a base level standard of hospitality training. It is not intended to replace normal in-house training, or as a substitute for formal training arranged by major employers. They will continue with their own schemes but will incorporate the Manx Welcome content into their own schemes.

What's in it For The Employee?

It is hoped to raise the level of hospitality service standards. The employee will gain nationally recognised qualifications and will gain knowledge of the Island and its attractions as well as meeting new colleagues within the industry.

What Happens After the Training?

A presentation of attendance certificates will take place immediately following the half day communications module. All trainees complete a log book which is checked by the employer as proof of their progress. Employers are asked to complete a feedback form and return to Manx Welcome Administration 6 weeks after the completion of their final module.
