Isle of Man Film Locations

Since 1995 the Isle of Man has become a major filming location in the UK Feature Film industry. Nearly 100 productions have been shot on the Island making us one the busiest film locations in the UK.

Renowned for its beautiful countryside, sweeping coastlines and pretty seaside towns, the sheer range of locations on the island has made a great contribution to a very successful and thriving film industry. The island has doubled as a Cornish fishing village, Scotland, London, Ireland and even the Caribbean!

The variety of film locations available in the Isle of Man are endless with contrasting inland and coastal scenery, townscapes, steam and electric trains and architecture ranging from Viking to contemporary. The Isle of Man has been described as 'the best parts of Britain joined together to form one Island.'

Albatross

Albatross is the latest release from Isle of Man and our partners CinemaNX. Featuring stunning scenery across the Isle of Man, Albatross is a 2011 British coming-of-age comedy drama film directed by Niall MacCormick and written by Tamsin Rafn. Starring Sebastian Koch, Julia Ormond, Felicity Jones and Jessica Brown-Findlay, the story revolves around a teenage aspiring writer entering the lives a dysfunctional family living in the south coast of England. Albatross is in UK cinemas 14th October 2011

TT3D: Closer to the Edge

The world's first feature film Sports Documentary in 3D. The film explores the Isle of Man TT races, the world famous motorcycle races that take place on the Isle of Man every year. Racing on public roads with speeds hitting 200mph on bikes just inches apart, drama, tension, thrilling racing, triumph and tragedy all combine to thrill the audience and tell a very moving human story. TT3D made it into the top 10 grossing Documentary UK Box Office hits of all time, and recently became the most successful ever Sports Documentary at the New Zealand Box Office.

The Shadow Line

Major BBC Drama from BBC Two. A sophisticated conspiracy thriller in seven parts, The Shadow Line brings to life a cinematic world of blurred morality and the conflicted characters who inhabit it. The Shadow Line features a star-studded cast, including: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Christopher Eccleston, Sir Antony Sher and Stephen Rea. The show has garnered praise from critics and fans alike.
