Leg Burner Mountain Bike Trail
Please note this is not a track for the faint hearted and should only be attempted in the dry.
Start:
There is plenty of parking available in The Waterfall car park. From here you turn right down the hill; the track veers of to the left here with a dead end sign. After approx 500 metres the track takes a turn to the left and narrows considerably. Proceed along here through a couple of climbs and descents, the last of which crosses a stream. This is where the Leg Burner really begins, as most of this section is a hike, unfortunately due the water damage.

As you approach the top you have a vista of beautiful views of Peel and the North of the island.

At the top you go through the gate, the footpath sign points right but you need to take the track straight ahead.

After the little bit of downhill that rewards all that climbing you come on to the road that takes you up to the Round Table, if you are tight on time you can just turn left and go straight up the road cutting out Eary Cushlin. If you are going the whole hog turn left and after approx 150 metres you will see the Eary Cushlin track on the right, follow this up on the loop that brings you to the top of The Sloc.

From here it is a left turn then a nice gentle road section to the Round Table proceed straight through the X roads and you will see a lane on your left, the gate is marked “ROUND TABLE PARK” follow this track heading back down into the valley, beware on this track as it quite rutted in places and the slate on the bottom section is treacherous when wet.

Once round the corner from the slate there is a huge trench, which is actually ride able and safer than trying to balance along the edge.

Once through this section cross the stream and continue along the track taking care of any walkers.
Now you had a bit of fun and mud you have a bit more climbing to do follow the track you are on until it joins the road again, here you want to take a sharp right and follow the winding climb up towards the old mines as “Snuff the Wind”.

At the junction next to the mines turn left, this will take you downhill then back up again past the Arassey Plantation follow this road for approx 1km, ahead you will see a lane with an old building at the start.

This is The Barnell track it is quite a nice flowing track but again show caution on the last section

At the end of the lane turn left

Then you enter Patrick village past the Church at the T-junction turn left.
Now it is a nice easy ride back along the main road to Glen May and a hot chocolate at The Waterfall Pub.
